ND-BU008 High-End Integrated Anti-Drone System

With exponential sales of drones around the world, the threat posed by the weaponization of recreational drones already is a reality. The unregulated proliferation of drones in most countries poses a significant danger and threat to their national security. Military bases, public buildings, critical infrastructures, power stations, offshore oil & gas platforms, sport stadiums, mass gathering events, and political leaders are all vulnerable to drone attacks. Terrorists have already used drones to launch attacks against civilian and military targets around the world. The illegal drone threat must be addressed with appropriate technology immediately.

ND-BU008 High-End Integrated Anti-Drone System is designed against consumer-grade small rotor drones, merging six core functional units: Active Radar, RF Detector, Directional Jammer, Omnidirectional Jammer, GPS Spoofing Jammer, and Camera into one system that integrates long-range detection, precision positioning, real-time tracking, multi-mode jamming, and safe disposal functions, for protection of key areas and response to threats from small rotor drones, e.g., illegal drone invasion, terrorist attack, and drug trafficking.

The system mainly consists of Detecting Units, Jamming Units and Camera Unit.
• The Detecting Units: Active Radar provides long-distance drone detection and delivers multi-dimensional data, including distance, speed, azimuth, and altitude; Full-Band RF Detector features passive detection from 300MHz to 6GHz to enhance positioning accuracy.
• Guided by the Detecting Units, the Jamming Units interfere with drone’s remote control and navigation signals to force it landing or returning. Full-Band Directional Jammer enables precise, long-range engagement. Omnidirectional Jammer ensures comprehensive short-range perimeter defense. GPS Spoofing Jammer disrupts and misleads drone navigation systems.
• The Camera Unit can efficiently record the tracks of the detected drone for further close inspection, and also enables the Detecting Units to achieve more accurate monitoring.

Detecting Unit Description-Active Radar

The Detecting Unit which employs the advanced 3D pulse doppler radar is the key to the whole ND-BU008 System.

The 3D pulse doppler radar with azimuth mechanism scanning and pitch phase scanning is mainly used to detect and locate low-altitude aircraft as well as moving vehicles and personnel on the ground.

As drone RCS* is quite small, usually around 0.01m2 (the size of DJI Phantom 4 Micro Drone RCS is 0.01m2), it is especially difficult to detect drones. (*RCS: Radar Cross-Section (RCS) is a measure of how detectable an object is with radar. A larger RCS indicates that an object is more easily detected. An object reflects a limited amount of radar energy back to the source.)

The 3D pulse doppler radar we employed with the unique algorithm focused on small RCS flying object, is able to rapidly report the speed, distance, direction, altitude and other information of the invading drone. In addition to accurately detecting the spatial location of drone targets, the radar can also integrate and cooperate with other anti-drone devices, such as optoelectronic equipment, jammer, and GPS spoofer.

By adopting Active Radar, much more accurate tracking data would be obtained through electronic scanning. Within the same detecting range, both the power consumption and the size of the ND-BU008 System are significantly reduced.

Detecting Unit Description-RF Detector

The Detecting Unit (Full-Band RF Detector) could detect and find drones within full frequency bands. It has the functions of drone detection and early warning, model identification, positioning and tracking, and trajectory playback within and outside the range of multiple stations.

By adopting the RF Detector, the system is capable of precisely detecting and localizing virtually all consumer-grade drones and obtaining more accurate tracking data through electronic scanning.

Jamming Unit Description-Directional Jammer

Full-Band Directional Jammer is a software-defined jammer, which can customize the configuration of jamming frequency and jamming bandwidth according to the mainstream drone frequency band. It also supports independent or combined output of multiple jamming channels.

It jams the drone satellite navigation signal or blocks the communication link between the drone and the remote control by emitting electromagnetic waves.

Guided by the target information (e.g., speed, distance, direction and pitching) provided by the Detecting Unit, Directional Jammer is able to rapidly adjust the antennas to interfere with the invading drone and force it to land or return.

Jamming Unit Description-Omni Jammer

Omnidirectional Jammer is specifically designed to neutralize drone and force it to land or return by transmitting electromagnetic waves to interfere with the GPS signal of the drone and block the communication link between the drone and its remote controller. It focuses on all-round control over close range and key areas.

Jamming Unit Description-GPS Spoofing Jammer

GPS Spoofing Jammer is specially designed and developed to interfere with target drone’s GPS signal and generate a fake GPS signal which could communicate with the target drone’s GPS transceiver and guide it to a preset location.

This jammer is particularly effective against drones that are operating via GPS guidance rather than under manual pilot control. Due to its highly efficient performance, this jammer is widely adopted to protect key areas and response to threats from small rotor drones, e.g., illegal drone invasion, terrorist attack, and drug trafficking.
